Julie Pietri, mega French star of the eighties chose Flatiron and Siena
The French star chose Thalias partner hotel, the Flatiron by Meridian, for her accommodation in Phnom Penh, and had the opportunity to meet local musicians such as David Waco and Philippe Javelle, as well as other guests, during a friendly dinner organized by Siena Restaurant manager Nicolas Juralina.
>Before this, Julie Pietri had an exclusive interview with Thalias magazine Cambodge mag, where she chatted about her amazing career as a singer of the 80s, her return to the stage, her encounter with the AMUR association and her impressions about her first trip to Cambodia.

New career
In this interview, Julie Pietri explained that she stopped his career after becoming pregnant with his daughter in 1991. However, she returned in 2003 through an extraordinary program offered by TF1 called Retour gagnant. The show had a huge impact on her, as she was the one who won with 4.5 million viewer votes. This allowed her to resume his career and release albums that were not just compilations but real original creations. In 2007, she released an album of jazzy covers called Autour de minuit, which included a beautiful scene performed at the Bataclan.
In 2022, she released an album called Origami, which she produced and co-wrote. Unfortunately, she suffered from cancer and had an operation in 2023. The following year, she released the same album on double vinyl, with three previously unreleased tracks and duets with singer friends. This album is still selling very well in France.

AMUR
Julie Pietri learned about AMUR (Au Moins Un Repas) through a concert organized by Martial Leotard and Éric Idier, who work in events management. They invited her to become the patron of their association in Cambodia, and she promised to come to the country. The project was delayed because of her cancer. But, finally, she could discover the work of the association, meet her goddaughter Chantoun, and discover this beautiful country.
Julie’s first impression of Cambodia was the cultural richness of the country, with two worlds living side by side. She is passionate about helping children in Cambodia and believes that saving a child on this earth means saving the world. She also was particularly drawn to the cuisine of Cambodia, particularly the famous amok and other dishes based on vegetables and aromatic herbs.
According to Ms Pietri, one of the most memorable aspects of Cambodia is the French-speaking members of the government, who were keen to meet her. Julie expressed her admiration for the country, its people, and the numerous things to see. However, she regrets that people don’t take the time to discover Phnom Penh and the incredible variety of things to see.
