Acquisition

Created in 2014, Cambodge Mag was acquired by the Thalias Group in October 2017. The title was acquired by Thalias and its creator and editor-in-chief, Christophe Gargiulo, joined the group.
The acquisition of the title by the Thalias group has made it possible to develop many additional sections such as tourism, gastronomy and culture. It has also made it possible to create a high-quality communication tool not only for the group, but also for the entire French-speaking community in Cambodia. Above all, the magazine’s editorial line has finally allowed the development of a positive image of Cambodia, which had previously been largely demonised by many foreign media.

Today

Cambodge Mag has become a benchmark and a must-read, particularly appreciated for its profiles and destinations section, which highlights and promotes hotels, ecotourism sites and resorts in the Kingdom. And it’s available for French speaking readers but also for the whole anglophone community

Fun facts

The magazine is the first to integrate AI into its illustrations, with weekly roundups presented by a virtual journalist who has become incredibly popular on social media. For the record, this “journalist” is the descendant of the first virtual presenter to appear on Cambodian television (Apsara TV) in 2007 during a music show, DJ Land, hosted at the time by Christophe Gargiulo.

About the editor-in-chief

Christophe Gargiulo is a French journalist who grew up in New Caledonia and worked in Vanuatu and Australia before settling in Cambodia to produce documentaries for Apsara TV, CTN, France Télévision, LCI and Mediacorp (Singapore). Some of his documentaries, including the first biography of Her Royal Highness Buppha Devi, have been distributed in France, Singapore, China and South Korea. Mr Gargiulo has collaborated with the French magazine Marianne on several occasions (Phocéa and Somaly Mam affairs).

A passionate music lover, Christophe Gargiulo has produced some 20 albums since 1997, has been featured in several Australian magazines and still generates almost 3,300,000 streams per year.
